Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

Have breakfast and after drive crossing the rift valley towards Lake Manyara National Park to enjoy a full day game drive. The park is only 205sq miles but it’s so enchanting since it has got lots of beauty and the lush acacia forest with the giant fig as well as the mahogany trees. The park is also home to many troops of baboons, as well as the blue monkeys. The national park is also home to many animals including the giraffes, buffalos, impalas, elephants, and the hippos with in the lake. This park is also well known for its bird species which total to over 400 species and its one of the few places where you will be able to view the ground Hornbill as well as the crested Eagle. The park is also famous for the tree climbing lions as well as flamingos in the lake shore. This land scape is so stunning and very different form that of Serengeti, the game drives here are done along the shore so the lake, which provides beautiful views of the giraffes and the buffalos in the fore ground of the lake. The lake has also got the flamingoes and good photo opportunities! Later in the afternoon, return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 2: Drive to Serengeti National Park

Have breakfast and after depart for Serengeti National park, which is home to the great migration. The drive will be as spectacular as you pass through the crater highlands and stop at the rim for a bird eye view of this Ngorongoro crater. Continue as you climb the hillside and spread out as your eyes can see. And this is the vast Serengeti which means the “endless plains” in Kiswahili and its over 6,900 sq miles and inhabits more than 2 million large animals including; a million wildebeests, hundreds of zebras, gazelles and the predators here include; lions, cheetahs, as well as the hyenas. The smaller animals here include; rock Hyrax, the bat eared foxes, honey badger, mongoose, monkeys, jackals, baboons, and over 500 bird species. As you enter Serengeti, you will stop at the great Oldupai Gorge where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the first man that walked on earth. Immediately after attending a short lecture of describing the archeological digs as well as geology of this gorge, you will then visit the small museum. Have lunch and then depart for an afternoon game drive with in Serengeti National park.

Day 3: Explore Serengeti National park

Have breakfast and after enjoy a full day game viewing in the park, these will be both morning and afternoon game drive. You will view many animals that you will have missed on the previous game drive. The optional activity here might be the Hot air balloon at an extra cost.

Day 4: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

This day, you will wake up so early and then go for an early morning game drive before enjoying your breakfast. You will view many animals when the sun is rising and they are more active. This is one of the most beautiful experience one can ever have. Immediately after the game drive, you will return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to Ngorongoro , which is the 8th natural wonder of the world. With over 2,000 ft high and the crater floor spreading over 102sq miles, this crater is also a Noah’s ark and harbors many animals including; the rare black Rhino. This crater has also got the highest concentration of wildlife in the planet. It has got a river, swamps and the soda lake from the top, it also looks like a stream and full of flamingoes as well as the open plains. There are also huge elephants with large tusk, and it’s due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soils and the grasses. These are the most incredible elephants you will ever see in your life.

Day 5: Explore the Ngorongoro crater

Very early in the morning, you will descend down to the crater floor for a full day viewing the game viewing and one of the most incredible places on the planet earth. After having a stop for a picnic lunch near the hippo lake and again more wildlife viewing in the afternoon, drive to the steep road out of the crater and then continue to Arusha at the lodge. Another optional activity in case of an extra day might be a visit to the Oldonyo Sambu Maasai Village.
