Tour overview

This tour will give you a chance to explore the four main national parks in Tanzania. Lake Manyara which is famous for the tree climbing lions, Tarangire for game viewing, the Serengeti National park for the great annual migration of wildebeests and the zebras and the Ngorongoro crater with its floor full of animals.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Manyara National park (2 and half hours/ 130km)

You will be picked up from Arusha and then be transferred to Lake Manyara National park, we shall arrive in time for lunch at the booked lodge and then after continue to Lake Manyara National park for an afternoon game drive. This park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically wildlife area that consists of a massive as well as a shallow soda lake that is located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley in the western escarpment. The park has got varied habitant that attracts a wide range of animals that include ones of Africa’s largest elephants. It has also got the tree climbing lions and the flocks of flamingos that attract algae with in the lake.

Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti National Park-(6 hours/205km)

Have breakfast and after head to Serengeti national park via the high lying farmland of the Karatu and the greatest ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will leave the highlands behind and then proceed into the heart of the wild Africa, the Serengeti has got the endless plains that roll into the distance as far as the eyes can see. You will then head to the central part of the park commonly known as Seronera area, which is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park that also feature the Seronera River and also provides water source to this area and attracts wildlife of the most of the Serengeti species. You will arrive in time for lunch and also enjoy an afternoon game drive with in the Serengeti National Park.

Day 3: Explore Serengeti NP

You will be one of the fortunate people to enjoy the hot Air balloon over the Serengeti plains and this will be organized at an extra cost. You will float silently above the bush and you spot the wildlife and also enjoy the amazing scenery of Africa crossing the rivers as well as the many small villages.

You will have breakfast at the game drive along the Songore river circuit that flows into the plains in the south of the seronera River, and is so good for the lion, gazelles, ostrich, topi and the cheetah sightings. There is also the visitor’s center which is worth a visit after the morning game drive. It’s nicely designed and also offers some interesting wildlife   displays, and the gift shop that sells information leaflets as well as the maps of the area. This center has also got a shop that sells drinks and snacks that can be purchased and also a picnic area and the information trail up and around the Kopje in the nearby area. We shall have a picnic lunch at the center which is in the shade of the giant acacia trees.

Later in the afternoon, we shall follow the kopjes circuit that goes into anti clockwise around the Masai Kopjes which also attract many lions as well as the large cobras. The Kopjes are also granite crops that are scattered around the plains and many of these are miniature ecosystems that provide shade and drinking water in the pools left with in the rains. This will also make these kopjes good for spotting the wildlife with in the dry season including the lions which like to lie as they wait for the animals coming to drink!

Day 4: Transfer to Ngorongoro crater (4 hrs/145km)

Have breakfast at the lodge and then transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area having a stopover at the Olduvai Gorge that dates back with the history to the dawn of time. This is where the anthropologists Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of the Nutcraker Man as well as the handy Man that are both so significant in the chain of the human evolution, we shall then arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and spend leisure for the afternoon.

Day 5: Explore the Ngorongoro Crater

Have breakfast at the lodge and descend down over 600m into the crater for a full day game drive, this crater is also one of the most over populated African wildlife areas in the whole world and is home to over 30000 animals including the Tanzania’s remaining black Rhinos. The area is supported by a year round water supply as well as fodder, this park also supports variety of animals, that include; buffalos, zebras, eland, warthog, hippos, wildebeests, the giant African elephants. The other item in the park is the huge population of predators that include; jackals, cheetahs, hyenas, lions, as well as the elusive leopard. We will also enjoy a picnic lunch on the floor of the crater.

Day 6: Transfer to Tarangire National Park- 3hours & 155km

Have breakfast and after depart to Tarangire national park, this park runs along the great Tarangire River made of low lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. The park has a natural vegetation that consists the acacia woodland as well as the giant African Baobab trees, with many swamps in the south. Both the swamps and the rivers act like a magnet for the wild animals especially in the dry season. This national park also contains some of the largest elephant herds in Africa and is also home to many other animals including; the greater Kudu, the Ashy starlings, the fringed eared Oryx. Have a picnic lunch and later enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Day 7: Departure back to Arusha-2 hours/ 120km

Enjoy a morning game drive in the park and then have breakfast at the lodge. After this, transfer back to Arusha, and on your arrival, enjoy lunch and then the African safari adventure will end from here.
